Paul specialises in contemporary semi-abstract seascapes and landscapes, and distinctive portraiture. The two themes are different in mood and style but, in each case, Paul generates a sense of intimacy whilst at the same time leaving the subject open to the viewer’s interpretation.
In a world of computer generated digital imagery, it is Paul’s aim to create contemporary artwork that is most definitely painted – where every palette knife mark, layer of paint and rich texture grounds his work firmly in reality. Nothing about Paul’s work is mass-produced. He strives to tease out more than the eye can see, inviting the viewer to experience, rather than passively consume, each visual image.
Paul’s work is in public and private collections throughout the world, and Coastal Gallery is delighted to feature a small collection of stunning atmospheric seascapes.
