Marina Konushkina

Marina was born in Russia in 1961 and moved to the UK in 2009. She graduated from Volgograd State University (Architecture & Construction) in 1986 and developed illustration skills relating to those disciplines. She has had no formal training as an artist but has closely observed and admired the work of Aivazovsky, Savrasov and Shishkin. Other strong influences are Turner, Constable and Monet.

Marina uses oil on canvas as her medium and uses a variety of different brushing and palette knife techniques to achieve the stunning effects in her landscape impressionism.

Marina takes her inspiration from landscape and often uses her camera to record sudden changes of light and atmosphere which may last only a few seconds. Her landscape oil paintings show experiments in the use of light often with a deliberately limited colour palette as the theme.
